Representing the Lone Star State

Leighton McBroom

Hey everyone! I'm Leighton McBroom a soon to be 6th grader, coming to you from the great state of Texas! I have one sister and one fur baby. I've been a dancer since I was three and am in all disciplines of dance my studio offers even Pointe! As a little girl, I wanted to be in The Nutcracker and have made the production for the last three years with Beaumont Civic Ballet. I'm an adventurous girl who loves to try new things. I love to cook and have been cooking for my family and grandparents all year long! I'm such a Disney kid I cannot wait for our first trip to the Magic Kingdom! Christmas time makes me so happy I sometimes listen to Christmas music all year long. Fun facts are I enjoy 80s rock hair band music and went to a KISS concert for my 10th birthday with my grandparents. Marc Defang also has a line of 'Leighton Leggings' still on the website today!

I have been on a pageant stage since before I was two years old and have been fortunate to have taken home many state titles and placing top five in several National pageants as well. A year ago, I was the Texas Jr Preteen where I was top five and also won Spokesmodel. My experience at both the Texas and National Pageants with IUM were so awesome I knew I had to come back this year. I'm so thankful to have won and also won Spokesmodel once more, the crowning shots by Catherine shows it all! I may be known to cry 'happy tears' and everyone saw that for sure!

My Spokesmodel speech is all about my platform, Tiny but Mighty which means you can do small things and make a big impact. Or you can be small and make big impacts on your community. Time is so important, giving others your time can be so small yet so meaningful!  I've been participating in community service since I was three and bringing my friends along with me to the nursing homes have been some of my favorite times. I've also donated my hair twice to Locks of Love and countless hours serving with Fisher's of Men at my church with back meals for youth in schools.

My parents' strong belief in growing in public speaking (along with it being my favorite) lead me to IUM two years ago. I love what IUM stands for with community service, Be Heroic and Sisters by Sash. Along with IUM making it a priority for girls to be themselves and age appropriate. IUM is for anyone! I cannot wait to build relationships this year and continue to represent my state and IUM!

Hope to you see you soon!
